Tested: Kypris Beauty Elixir II & III (Healing Bouquet & Prismatic Array)

I love Kypris.  This is no secret to anyone who as ever peeked at my Instagram @cleancurator or read any of my previous blog posts.  In addition to loving Kypris, I have combination, acne-prone skin that just does not agree with most oils.  You can see, then, that I had quite a bit of a dilemma when looking to own one of Kypris' much-talked-about Beauty Elixirs.  I decided to bite the bullet and order two samples of the Elixirs as I was recently placing an order at Integrity Botanicals for a plethora of new samples to test.  I love that more online boutiques for clean beauty are now embracing samples and selling them so that we are not limited to just choosing 2 or 3 per order.  I took advantage of that and decided to give the Kypris Elixirs a test run on my skin to see if, by chance of a miracle, I would not break out or be left extremely uncomfortable.  There was a miracle and now I know I will never be without them!

Kypris Beauty Elixir II Healing Bouquet

Ingredients:
Love, Helianthus annuus (Sunflower Seed) Oil, Cocos nucifera (Virgin Coconut) Oil, Vitis vinifera (Grape Seed) Oil, Adansonia digitata (baobab) Oil, Aleurites moloccans (Kukui) Oil, Calophyllum inophyllum (Tamanu) Oil, Curcubita pepo (Pumpkin Seed) Oil, Ubiquinone (CoQ10), Opuntia engelmannii (Prickly Pear Seed) Oil, Rosa Canina (Rosehip) Extract, Hippophae rhamonides (Seabuckthorn Berry) Extract, Punica granatum (Pomegranate Seed) Extract, Rubus occidentalis (Black Raspberry Seed) Oil, Vaccinium macrocarpon (Cranberry Seed) Oil, Stearyl Glycyrrhetinate (From Licorice), Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate (Vitamin C Ester), Rosamarinus officinalis (Rosemary Leaf) Extract Non- GMO Mixed Tocopherols, 100% Natural Essential Oil Blend ( Geranium, Jasmine, Patchouli, Lavender)

This has amazing ingredients like Baobab Oil for cellular regeneration and to lessen moisture lost, Kaneka CoQ10 for its antioxidant properties, and Licorice extract to calm the skin.

Consistency: Healing Bouquet is a light oil that comes out of the dropper orange-tinged and smelling of roses mixed with other florals.  The rose scent is quite strong to me but not anything that is offensive as it is a fresh rose smell, not your grandmother's scent! It absorbs quickly into the skin and it takes a few minutes for me to not feel the presence of the freshly applied oil on my face.  This is definitely one of the lightest, most comfortable oils I've had the pleasure of applying!

Experience: According to Kypris, this oil is best for inflamed, blemished skin with environmental stress.  This is especially true for me when my hormonal acne acts up!  I have applied this by itself during the night and have woken up with glowing and less oily than normal skin!  I've also mixed this Elixir with my sunscreen as well as my night tie moisturizer and have actually preferred that method of application than just putting it straight on my skin.  Ruhi gave me the idea to mist on toner and then apply the Elixir which I have found works well to help absorb the oil into my skin quicker and to give less of an oily film feeling in the beginning(it always dries to a no-film feeling, no matter the application).  This does not aggravate any blemishes or cause breakouts.  I find that my blemishes heal a bit quicker once I apply this.  I also see that my hyper pigmentation has gone down just a smidgen since I have used this for the past month, however, I have been using this as well as Prismatic Array so it might just be the both of them working together to help my skin!

Kypris Beauty Elixir III Prismatic Array

Ingredients:
Love, Helianthus annuus (Sunflower Seed) Oil, Cocos nucifera (Virgin Coconut) Oil, Vitis vinifera (Grape Seed) Oil, Adansonia digitata (baobab) Oil, Aleurites moloccans (Kukui) Oil, Calophyllum inophyllum (Tamanu) Oil, Curcubita pepo (Pumpkin Seed) Oil, Ubiquinone (CoQ10), Opuntia engelmannii (Prickly Pear Seed) Oil, Rosa Canina (Rosehip) Extract, Hippophae rhamonides (Seabuckthorn Bearry) Extract, Punica granatum (Pomegranate Seed) Extract, Rubus occidentalis (Black Raspberry Seed) Oil, Vaccinium macrocarpon (Cranberry Seed) Oil, Stearyl Glycyrrhetinate (From Licorice), Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate (Vitamin C Ester), Non- GMO Mixed Tocopherols

This contains Kaneka CoQ10 like Healing Bouquet and Prickly Pear Seed Oil( also in Healing Bouquet) which protects from free radical damage.  Kukui oil is extremely light and also protects against damage from too much UV radiation.  Lastly, the supercritical extracted Rosehip fruit is another great antioxidant! My skin is usually highly reactive to Rosehip oil and immediately breaks out when I use anything with that ingredient, however, it has never had a bad reaction to the Kypris Elixirs even though they have included it in their ingredients.

There are no essential oils in this formulation which works great for sensitive skin like mine!

Consistency: Prismatic Array is the lightest, fastest absorbing oil I have ever used to date.  I will also just say that this is my favorite oil that I've tried from Kypris.  It hits all of the notes in consistency that I was looking for.  This completely absorbs into the skin within a few seconds and never irritates my skin.  It is orange in color but while it looks quite similar in the photo above, the formulation of Prismatic Array is even lighter than that of Healing Bouquet.  It is the runnier of the two as noted in the swatch.  This also does not have any scent which is what I prefer for my oils!  While this is an oil, it is so light that I find it to feel like an almost liquid consistency when rubbed into my skin.

Experience: If Healing Bouquet was a pleasant experience, then Prismatic Array is an outright skin miracle!  I am so pleased that I decided to try the samples even though I was my usual oil-hesitant self!  I've been using this the same way that I have used Healing Bouquet and find that it works well alone with toner beforehand or mixed in with my lotions!  I have experienced an increases in the softness of my skin and find that my scars have been fading slightly with my one month use.  This also calms my skin down when it is too dry post-shower and evens out my complexion after a day of environmental stress(I am in downtown for 5 days out of each week).  I find that, as with the Healing Bouquet, my skin glows the morning after application and it is generally less oily in nature.  This was definitely a home run of a product and I am absolutely getting the full size.

Extra Comments: I have already spoken about Kypris' amazing customer service in my past post on their three serums HERE, but I've just had another wonderful experience.  You see, I was a little skeptical of the fact that Cocos nucifera was third(or second) on the ingredients list since it is a known comedogenic/pore-clogging ingredient.  However, I never experienced any pore-clogging during my testing period of these two products so I sent Kypris a quick inquiry about the inclusion of coconut oil.  They gave a detailed, informative response that I will place down below.

Hi Vanessa, we get this question all the time so you are not alone. There are a few things at play here. First, we are really careful with our sources. The coconut oil that is in our products is a cold pressed, organic, fair trade oil. It is done properly. When we crack open a drum of the coconut oil not only does it smell like tropical heaven it's sweating. It's a beautiful material. Most other coconut oils are made from different farming practices. That definitely plays a factor into the quality of the oil. In my opinion, high heat use to process coconut oil in particular isn't a big deal because it is known for its stability. Nonetheless that isn't something we use. So there's the growing and the process to create the oil that is unique.

Second, the way our products - in particular the Beauty Elixirs - are formulated is to ensure a particular fatty acid composition. Many craft products that you find in the natural community are a beautiful, yet haphazard blend of this and a dash of that. When we are formulating we are considering the fatty acid compositions from each of the oils (among other things) we use and how they will combine together. Yes the coconut oil is one of the top ingredients and is technically part of the base but keep in mind its concentration does not exceed 10%.

I'm not sure if coconut oil is comedogenic. I've heard that too. It is definitely occlusive meaning that it is film forming. That's really important for keeping hydration in the skin because oils moisturize. They do not hydrate - unless they contain rose oil or some other essential oil w/ a water content but even then oils' primary function is to keep hydration in. The Tamanu functions similarly yet different. This is actually why it's so important to use something like the serums with the beauty elixirs. Skin wants both hydration and moisture.

So there you have it! I thoroughly enjoyed both oils and will be purchasing the Beauty Elixir III!  If you'd like to find out what Kypris is all about, Beautyhabit is having a promotion until May 15/ until supplies last where you receive a complimentary Moonlight Catalyst(my favorite product from them, review HERE) with any order $200+.  You can find the deal HERE.

  1. This is a lovely review and the response from Kypris is very thoughtful. I was hesitant to try these beauty elixirs for the same reason, coconut oil.

    1. Hey Megan!
Yes, I used to be fearful of the inclusion of coconut oil as well but after learning more from Kypris and (most importantly) testing the Elixir on myself for a month, I've let go of that skepticism because the product has truly worked that well on me! I'd really suggest going on Kypris or going to Integrity Botanicals or any other site that allows you to sample the Elixirs and see if it works on your particular skin type.

      Big love!

I'm so glad you told me because I feel like I have more benefits from applying it so soon after cleansing as opposed to mixing it!

  4. I've always hesitated on the Beauty Elixirs because of the inclusion of coconut oil--and I'm glad you actually reached out and asked them about it! Definitely quite an informative answer and while it slightly puts me at ease, I may still hesitate a little more until my curiosity takes over :) Glad you had such a positive experience with these two!
