Tested: 5YINA Seasons Part 2- Grace (Autumn) Oil, Quiescent (Winter) Oil, Divine (All Seasons) Beauty Balm

You know I'm all about lighter oils, but once in a while, I like to indulge in some thicker oils that truly nourish my skin.  That's exactly what these next two oils in 5yina's lineup specialize in.  Quiescent soothes dry skin and truly plumps up the skin while Grace helped brighten up my complexion.  My go-to balm for dry, chapped lips to cracked fingers is the Divine Balm.  Here's the thing, I can't stand anything too heavy and many oils and balms tend to just sit in a greasy film on top of my skin.  These don't.  All 5 seasons are complete with these oils and balms specifically suited for their respective seasons.

Consistency:
This is a medium-heavy beauty oil with a golden hue and an herbal scent that is very reminiscent of the Lucent Summer Beauty Oil.  I find that it applies easily on the skin but takes a bit more time to sink into the skin than the Lucent and Enlighten oils.

Ingredients:
Camellia Oleifera (Camellia) Seed Oil*, 5YINA Proprietary Complex -{Camellia Oleifera (Camellia) Seed Oil*, Tremella Fruciformis, Centella Asiatica (Gota Kola), Morus Alba (Mulberry) Leaf, Polygonatum Officinale (Solomon’s Seal), Osmanthus Fragrans Flowers+, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice), Chrysanthemum Morifolium Flowers, Calendula Officinalis Flower, Ganoderma Lucidum (Reishi), Lycium Barbarum (Goji Berries)}, Vitis Vinifera (Grapeseed) Oil*, Rosa Rubiginosa (Rosehip) Seed Oil*, Prunus Armeniaca (Apricot) Kernel Oil*, Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Seed Oil, Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Oil*, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Sea Buckthorn Oil*, Olea Europaea (Olive) Oil and Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract*, Cinnamomum Camphora (Ho Wood) Oil, Citrus Aurantium Var. Amara (Petitgrain sur Fleurs) Oil*, Osmanthus Fragrans Absolute, (Santalum Spicatum) Sandalwood Oil+.

Skincare Benefits:
According to TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine), Autumn has a predominantly dry climate and the body tissue that represents autumn is the skin.  It is a transitional time, so it is no surprise that the Grace oil's purpose is to prep the skin and replenish suppleness for the upcoming season.  Ling Zhi (Reishi) is an important ingredient in the formulation that holds great antioxidant and antiallergenic properties.  Ling Zhi is called the queen of mushrooms and has great regenerative properties that has given it it's nickname as the plant of immortality.  It is also an immune modulator that is often taken orally.  Ju Hua (Chrysanthemum) helps to brighten the complexion and acts against oxidative damage.  Ji Xue Cao (Centella Asiatica) helps to remove toxicity and resolve swelling by regenerating skin.  Gui Hua (Osmanthus) is known in TCM to help reduce wrinkles and relieve skin capillaries.

Experience:
I loved using this oil on days when the winter dryness in Southern California was truly getting to my skin.  I'd often find chapped skin on my nose or around my lips and that is when I knew I had to bust this oil out to help salvage my skin!  I felt like this was a more moisturizing version of the Lucent Summer Oil so I loved alternating between the two.  Again, I enjoyed mixing a drop or two of this oil into my nighttime serum (Kypris Moonlight Catalyst).  I would wake the next morning with a brighter complexion.  I cannot mention anything specific about its brightening properties yet as I feel that I have not used this oil exclusively long enough.  I have experience lightening of my scars over the past few months, however, I have also used Celsius cream along with these oils so I cannot denote which product truly helped(or helped the most).  Anyhow, I truly enjoy using this oil for those drier days.

Consistency:
This is a reddish-brown tinged beauty oil with a deep herbal scent (I apologize that I cannot exactly provide the most detailed description of the scents; they are all scented with different herbs but it's truly an in person experience that you'll have to enjoy for yourself!).  This oil absorbs quite fast into the skin for a winter oil that is meant to moisturize and nourish the skin!  I love that quality about this oil.  I find that it doesn't leave any uncomfortable residue sitting on my face after application.

Ingredients:
Camellia Oleifera (Camellia) Seed Oil*, Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Oil*, Olive Squalane, 5YINA Proprietary Complex -{Camellia Oleifera (Camellia Seed) Oil*, Lithospermum Erythrorhizon (Gromwell), Codonopsis Pilosula (Dang Shen), Angelica Chinensis (Chinese Angelica) Root, Rhodiola Rosea (Roseroot), Withania Somnifera (Ashwagandha)*, Polygonum Cuspidatum (Japanese Knotweed), Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice), Boswellia Carteri (Frankincense)+, Commiphora Myrrah Resin (Myrrh)+ }, Punica Granatum (Pomegranate) Seed Oil, Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Oil*, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Olea Europaea (Olive) Oil and Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract*, Vetiveria Zizanoides (Vetiver)*, Aquilaria Agallocha (Agarwood) CO2, Nardostachys Jatamansi (Jatamansi)+, Cinnamomum Camphora (Ho Wood), Cedrus Atlantica (Cedar Wood)*, Hypericum Perforatum (St. John’s Wort).

Skincare Benefits:
Winter is a season of coldness.  Cold in TCM means that your body's functions will slow down and contract thus causing poor circulation.  This is why ingredients such as Dang Gui (Chinese Angelica Root) is so important.  Dang Gui invigorates the blood and generates flesh thus it is absolutely appropriate for the winter season.  Chen Xiang (Agarwood) helps to revitalize the complexion (and as a side note, this resin is time-consuming to produce and is rare to find).  Hong Jing Tian (Rhodiola) helps to activate blood circulation, stimulate elastin production, and has super antioxidants for the skin.  Hu Zhang (Japanese Knotweed) has resveratrol which is a natural antibiotic produced by plants to protect against environmental stresses.  Zi Cao (Gromwell) activates blood, resolves stasis, and removes toxicity.  Zi Cao has powerful anti-inflammatory properties.

Experience:
I usually loved to mix my other oils from 5yina with my nighttime serum, however, I enjoy using the Quiescent oil with just a spritz of my favorite mist (at the moment it is the Vitamin D mist from One Love Organics) and apply about two drops of the oil over my face as the mist settles in.  This is a very replenishing oil that is still able to absorb quite fast into the skin and I believe that is one of the biggest pros of this oil.  My skin always feels incredibly nourished the day after using this oil.  I currently own the Petit Size of the oil and, personally, that size is absolutely perfect for my use (plus it is so easy to travel with!).

Consistency:
The Divine Balm is a light balm that is incredibly easy to spread and is greatly moisturizing without feeling heavy on the skin.  In fact, this balm translates quite lightly once smoothed onto the skin (a quality that I find appealing as I was trying to avoid an all-too-slippery, cumbersome balm).

Ingredients:
Camellia Oleifera (Camellia Seed) Oil*, Cera Alba (Beeswax), 5YINA Proprietary Complex -{Camellia Oleifera (Camellia) Seed Oil*, Polygonatum Officinale (Solomon’s Seal), Schizandra Chinensis (Schisandra) Berries, Radix Panacis Quinquefolii (American Ginseng) , Lycium Barbarum (Goji Berries), Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice)}, Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil*, Sesamum Indicum (Sesame) Seed Oil*, Rosa Rubiginosa (Rosehip) Seed Oil*, Carthamus Tinctorius (Safflower) Seed Oil*, Cannibis Sativa (Hemp) Seed Oil*, Tocopherol (Vitamin E), Pelargonium Graveolens (Rose Geranium) Oil*, Rose Damascena, Rose Bulgarian, Rose De Mai*.

Skincare Benefits:
All Seasons or Late Summer is the fifth season in TCM.  It is a transitional period between hot and cold.  Preparing for a new season is daunting, and the skin should be prepped accordingly to have a protective barrier against new climate changes.  Wu Wei Zi (Schizandra Berries) is known for having restorative properties that addresses damage and helps prep the skin's barrier.  Yu Zhu (Solomon's Seal) moistens, repairs, and softens the skin.  Gou Qi Zi (Goji Berries) is as good for you consumed as it is on your skin.  This herb has super-oxidants and beta carotene that repairs skin for an inner glow.

Experience:
This balm now lives in my daily makeup bag.  I love using this for my dry, chapped lips and nose.  I also love to apply this on any cracks on my hands in this dry winter weather.  I've even used this on flyaways when I was outside and as a cuticle conditioner for my nails.  The reason I enjoy using this balm so much is due to the fact that it isn't uncomfortably greasy.  This is a balm that does what it says and moistens where you need it to moisten.   I also absolutely adore the chic packaging and I happily whip this out in the public to use.

I'll be showing you my routine with these oils and final thoughts in the next and final installment of the 5YINA series!  I hope you have enjoyed 5YINA week thus far, and don't forget, the 5YINA giveaway is still open (check my instagram cleancurator for the details).
