Tested: Honeyce Moisture Repair Shampoo & Treatment

I don't talk about my hair often.  My hair is the kind of fine-but-with-frizz, stick-straight, volume-less hair that puts people at their wits end.  Granted, I am very basic with my haircare routine and dislike fussing too much with my hair so perhaps I shouldn't expect glamour waves from such a simple routine.  I also have a regimen of washing my hair every other day and it has been a struggle finding a good non-toxic(or even mostly non-toxic) option that will help keep even my second-day-hair bouncy and full-looking without giving the appearance of an oily mess.  I heard about the Honeyce brand from a blogger I follow at sushi-cat!  Jenny posts updates on Japanese products that she's purchased and always manages to find great products that I've never heard of before.  I'm a huge sucker for great packaging and I also adore Japanese products so I did more google-ing on the product and found that it was free of sodium laureate sulfate, parabens, synthetic dyes, PG, synthetic antioxidant, talc, and doesn't test on animals.  It is also formulated with 8 kinds of honey from around the world and 8 kinds of oil and milk.  I've tested this duo out for the past few months and have really gotten a good sense of how I feel about the product!

L: Honeyce Moisture Repair Shampoo, R: Honeyce Moisture Repair Treatment
Honeyce Moisture Repair Shampoo- This shampoo has single-handedly kept my hair light, clean, and bouncy whenever I wake up the next morning since I tend to wash my hair at night.  It is not too thick and not too light with a texture similar to light syrup.  It has an orange tint which is appropriate considering it smells fruity-sweet like a combination of citrus notes with honey.

The shampoo lightly foams when I apply it and easily washes off without any difficulty.  It does not weigh down my hair and I don't feel any residue from the shampoo.  I find that it can be a tad bit drying if not used with its complementary conditioner/treatment.  My hair smells amazing with this duo even after a day or two!

Honeyce Moisture Repair Treatment- This product is labeled as a treatment, however, I use it as a conditioner and find that it functions as a conditioner well for my hair.  The scent is the same as the shampoo of the same name and is literally one of my favorite shampoo scents to date.

The consistency is that of a light cream and I had no trouble at all with working this product into my hair.  I immediately felt the moisture and shine come back to my hair upon application and had no difficulty washing off the product either. I have tried the shampoo alone during one occasion and I certainly noticed the difference in my hair(as expected).  This treatment/conditioner truly brings shine and hydration to my hair without weighing it down whatsoever.  My hair is always ridiculously soft after I use this product and I am sad to report that I've just run out of it!

Extra Comments:  I really enjoy this duo and would recommend it to anyone who is looking to switch up their haircare routine!  The packaging is not the only perk, I swear!  My only qualm is that I cannot read Japanese so I haven't been able to decipher what the packaging listed in regards to all of the ingredients and properties of the set.  I purchased it knowing that all of the heavy hitter red alarms were not included such as those listed in the beginning of this post.  I am going to be testing out shampoos from Josh Rosebrook and Yarok after I finish this shampoo so I will not be repurchasing for now, however, that is no indication to how much I enjoy the product.  My hair wasn't having the best time once I finished another non-toxic shampoo and conditioner option and so I bought this on a whim.  Luckily, this product has greatly benefited my hair and I truly thought that I should let others know about this great option! I have included the Japanese back of the Moisture Repair Treatment in case any of you can read Japanese!

Update: Nic from OrgaNic Obsessions very kindly helped translate some of the information from the packaging!  This is not a Vegan product as it contains a substance from cow's milk and sheep fur or hair.  More specifically, the keratin in the product originates from sheep! There is also the inclusion of phenoxyethanol at the end of the ingredients list so it isn't 100% clean, however, I do believe that it is a great alternative and option to more toxic hair products out there.  I also am in love with the results so I may stick with this product until I find a better/cleaner option out there!

Please let me know if you have any great non-toxic shampoo and conditioner recommendations down below!  I find that I've been having the most difficult time switching over my hair products versus skincare/makeup products to non-toxic options!

Have a beautiful day!

Big Love,

Vanessa

  1. That shampoo bottle is so cool! Haha. I've been using a Canadian brand called Calia for shampoo and it's been working fine, but i don't think i'll repurchase as shipping is expensive/slow to the US. Do you have oily hair? I'm wondering if this shampoo can combat my grease! :P

    1. Catherine,
The packaging seriously gets me every time! Oh, I have that same problem often with organic brands outside of the U.S.! I do have oily hair, in fact, my hair is fine and oily so that makes it become flat quite easily. This shampoo has done a great job with keeping my hair light and volumized without early onset of grease even when I have day 2 hair. I do find that I need to wash my hair again on day 2 or 3 because that is around when the flatness settles in. Hope this helped!

      Big love,

      Vanessa

  2. Hi Vanessa,

I always love reading about Asian skincare with green ingredients and this one definitely fits the bill! Not really looking for new shampoo/conditioner since I've found a couple that work really well for me and can be found easily in the US, but would love to give this a try sometime in the future!

I think you'll like Yarok. We have very similar hair - the only difference would be mine is naturally wavy and yours is straight. Have you tried Rahua? That's another great one for fine, oily hair!

    1. Ruhi,

I am with you, sister! I'm obsessed with Asian skincare and beauty products and am so happy that there are more and more Asian brands going green! I'll be trying Yarok next once this runs out(soon!) since I have a sample from Integrity Botanicals! I'm thinking of getting a sample of the Rahua Voluminous Shampoo the next time I place an order at Integrity and I'll let you know how it goes! I've heard such great things about the brand although it is truly pricey.

      Big love,

      Vanessa

    1. Ally,

Thanks, love! Yes, you can purchase this set separately on Amazon which is where I found the best deal for the set in the U.S. and I've also linked the two sellers where I purchased my set. You can access that by clicking the name of the product in the post, it's linked! I'll always try to link the products in the posts if I can so shopping can be a bit easier!

      Big love,

      Vanessa
