Tested: Gressa Minimalist Corrective Serum Foundation 01

I've been loving the clean foundation options that are out on the market right now.  When I heard that Gressa had released a Corrective Serum foundation packed with good-for-your-skin ingredients and a satin finish, I almost couldn't believe it could be true!  Here's the thing, I've heard a bunch about the craze for new serum foundation combinations released by the likes of Yves Saint Laurent and Lancome.  Their formulas were very moisturizing and not in favor of oily-skinned girls.  This liquid to satin/powder formulation would be a game changer for me(and hopefully for all the other girls having trouble with these types of foundations)! I've been testing out this beauty for a few months and I'm loving it overall, but I do have a few qualms.

Ingredients: Gressa Minimalist Corrective Serum foundation is loaded with great ingredients like Broccoli Seed Oil(antioxidant), Gressa Healing Complex( a blend of powerful botanicals to heal your skin), Neem oil(fights acne and aging), Sea Buckthorn seed extract(antioxidant), and Lemon Balm extract(anti-inflammatory). You are getting skincare that is foundation and, honestly, I find that to be so revolutionary.  It's a positive to be doing good for your skin even while wearing makeup and Gressa's formula is packed with only the good stuff.

Consistency: This is an extremely runny formula and I always have to be careful not to tip over the bottle when using the product.  The tear-shaped dropper that it comes with is perfect for taking out product but I must work with the foundation extremely fast or else it will drip off of my hand.  The bottle says to shake the foundation before use so there is no separation of product.  I would definitely recommend to do so since there have been plenty of times when I've wasted product by forgetting to shake beforehand(my hands were met with oil first then some pigment afterwards, not a good look).  Once blended into the skin, I find that it takes a while to fully absorb to avoid having an oily-slick feeling on top of the skin.  It does dry to a satin/powder finish.  My problem with the finish is that, because it can resemble the look of powder, I always find splotches on my nose area where it is not so seamless with my skin.  I have attempted to put more 100% Pure Powder on top but it does not rectify the situation.

Coverage:  It is supposed to be a light-medium coverage foundation and I do agree that the coverage is just that.  I don't mind the natural look of it and I just spot conceal whatever else needs more coverage.  I don't ever attempt to build up the foundation as I feel like I have too much on my skin.  It does not appear cake, per say, but it definitely feels heavy if there are multiple layers of the serum foundation.

Lasting Power: This usually holds up about 6 hours before having a separation problem on my skin.  If I powder beforehand, I can wear this for 12 hours straight throughout the day.  I don't have any issues with the lasting power and find that it holds up quite well.  The only problem that I will note is that the separation of the product on the skin is noticeable after a full 12 hour day on the nose and forehead. It is not so noticeable that it is a deal breaker, though.

Extra Comments: I thoroughly enjoyed Gressa's customer service. They were very accommodating when I ordered shade 02 and found that it was much too Orange on my fair-light skin. I sent an email about the issue and received a quick response with instructions to send it back. They immediately sent me 01 as a replacement. My only complaint here would be that I wished they had a sample system so we, as customers, would not have to pay for return shipping for the second, correct color. I do know that they offer a service where you send them a headshot and they color match for you through the shade you are in the image. I always find it difficult to correctly match the color from an online image so I am usually skeptical of those services.  Their customer service is impeccable and Svetlana was very informative in her answers to my questions via email and Facebook.

That's all, folks!  I sincerely hoped this helped!  Please let me know if you have any comments or questions down below! What foundations have you been loving lately?

Have a great Tuesday!

Yours,

Vanessa

Update: Gressa seems to have added an option where you can request 3 free samples at checkout as long as you add THIS to the cart!  I'm so ecstatic for this option!

  1. Great review Vanessa, the foundation looks amazing on you! :) I definitely agree with you about the samples, I also ordered the wrong shade the first time and even now I don't have the exact match and I have to mix two shades..I wish it wasn't so runny and I also had to deal with applying only oil and no pigment, I'm just not used to shaking up my bottles :P xx

    1. Thank you, dear Jana!
I updated the post as soon as I found out that they offer 3 free samples with every order now! I was thinking about mixing shades 01 and 02, but I had a liquid concealer in a darker shade that I wanted to use up so I've been doing that combination instead! I do find the application can be a bit messy which is why I don't usually reach for it in the mornings when I'm in a rush( almost every morning!) !

      Thanks for reading, love!

  2. The foundation looks great on you! I still have the random dry patches problem so have not been able to use it the past few months since weather is so cold/dry. Can't wait to bust it out again when spring finally rolls around in the east coast!

    1. Yes, I had the exact same issues! I would have it accentuate dry patches or it would separate when I had too much oil. I do like it on my non-problematic areas though. I'm a west-coaster but I've heard winter in the east coast has been absolutely brutal! Fingers crossed it gets better sooner! I'll be flying out to Pennsylvania for a week so my skin will probably not thank me for it. :)

      Thanks for reading, Ru!

    1. Yes, it's pretty great! I feel that it'd work well with those who have normal (not too oily or dry) skin! Thank you for the lovely comment!

  4. Hi Vanessa,

Thanks so much for the detailed review! Too bad it clings to dry spots...is that the case even after the application of a moisturizing face oil? Is it easy to apply in the morning? For me, not having SPF is a big negative - I'm really trying to find products that have some SPF since we're approaching summer. I would hate to add an extra layer of sunscreen since this foundation doesn't seem to have any. Any thoughts if this will work as an under eye concealer?

It looks great on you by the way!

    1. Hey Ruhi!
I find that it can cling to dry spots, which wouldn't be a problem after facial oil. However, the product does separate over time on oily skin so that's something else to think about! The only difficulty I have is getting the product onto my face because it can be runny. After that, spreading it out isn't so hard, so it's alright in the mornings but may get on things you don't want it to get on due to its runny nature. I agree with you on the spf! I usually just use my Kimberley Sayer spf underneath! I can see this working as an under eye concealer just fine, I've used it under the eyes before and didn't have much of a problem.

Thank you for the thoughtful comment, dear Ruhi!
