Favorites: Spring Break Edit

Spring is one of my favorite seasons and traveling is another favorite of mine.  You can imagine how excited I am for this post as I am typing this right in the middle of my vacation! Spring break is one of the shorter vacations of the year.  Due to this nature, I like to pack all of my favorites and essentials with a very minimalistic and versatile mindset.  I usually focus on one of every essential, so in that vein, I'll pack one multi-use blush, one dress-up-or-down shirt, one day-to-night coat, and so on.  I've gathered some body, skin, makeup, and clothing favorites that I have taken with me to the East Coast for a week!  I know the trend is to escape to warmer climates, but since I'm coming from average-of-90s California, this is more of a reverse weather situation!  The favorites that are mentioned are still completely non-weather specific save for the coat so read on for my specially curated favorites for the spring mini-vacay!

Skin/Body:

LAVANILA Healthy Deodorant- I love the smell of this deodorant!  The stick form is convenient for easy application. A good deodorant is essential for any weather( especially tropical weather) and I find that this one works extremely well on me. It keeps me smelling like fresh vanilla all day and I never have to worry about being self conscious about the way my pits smell.  While this does not block perspiration as well as a typical deodorant, it still does the job quite well and I personally do not mind as sweating is a natural process.

100% Pure Hand Cream (French Lavender)- I received this in a Petit Vour box and have been using it nonstop ever since.  To be honest, I don't usually prefer Lavender scents so I had wished they shipped the Vanilla Bean instead.  The scent has grown on me over the past month and I now use it religiously for my dry hands during this time of the year.  This also doubles as my body lotion for this week since I did not want to pack a huge tube of body lotion knowing fully well that this would hydrate just as well.  The texture is quite thick when it first comes out of the tube but it absorbs fast and easily.

LUSH Mint Julips- This is more of a daily necessity for me, but it is especially important to have on hand during spring break.  I tend to wear lipstick more often over vacation and this little pot has saved my lips time and time again.  My lips are prone to drying up and flaking, which can be exacerbated when applying lipstick often throughout the day.  I like to use this once a day to keep my lips soft and exfoliated.  This can also be an emergency exfoliator for anywhere else on your body that needs polishing.

KYPRIS Moonlight Catalyst- I don't know how I can manage a favorites post without my beloved Moonlight Catalyst!  I like to keep my night routine simple during a short vacation so I usually apply only the Moonlight Catalyst with an eye cream( right now it's 100% Pure Coffee Bean Caffeine Eye Cream) and just let my skin breath overnight.  I don't find that I need to apply much else, even in this drier climate, because the Catalyst moisturizes and renews my skin overnight by itself.  I've already mentioned this but the peachy goodness that I smell every time I apply this truly brightens my mood.

Makeup:

Tarte Amazonian Clay 12-Hour Blush (Exposed)-  This color is just the perfect color for a day or night look whether you are in Cancun or the East Coast.  On my fair-light skin, it comes off as a rosy-nude shade.  The color does actually last 12 hours, though I cannot vouch for any longer than that because I haven't personally worn makeup for longer periods of time.  The lasting time makes this blush a perfect companion on long days when you are out sight seeing and the nude color makes it a versatile addition to any makeup look.

Tarte Gifted Amazonian Clay Smart Mascara-  Another Tarte favorite is this mascara that manages to carry a look from non-dramatic to dramatic in a matter of swipes.  I like to put on two coats for a day out and three for a night out in town.  I am sure most ladies would be able to stop at one coat for a natural look, but I'm a mascara junkie and I love to layer on mascara until I get dramatic lashes no matter what time of day it is!

These are not the only items that I brought with me makeup-wise, but the others are standards in my basic foundation routine and are products that I've reviewed before!  They can be found HEREHERE, and HERE.

Other/ Clothing:

Warby Parker Carmichael Sunglasses (SOLD OUT) Warby Parker (other great styles)- These are my daily sunglasses with good reason.  The frame is just big enough for my liking but not big enough to overpower my outfits.  This shields my sensitive eyes from the sun and adds character and the finishing touch to many of my outfits.

EQUIPMENT Brett Bright White- I brought my favorite white-collared shirt for the casual-fancy days when I can dress this down with black skinnies or up with leather leggings and black pumps.  The material is so soft and breathable which makes it a great addition to my small collection of clothes (aka living out of my suitcase at the moment).  The material and cut of EQUIPMENT silk shirts cannot be beat and I am currently saving up for another one! I didn't have a steamer on hand but I'll be using the shower steam method to de-wrinkle this!

Zara Belted Zip Coat (SOLD OUT)- I purchased this coat on sale(such a great deal!) a few months ago and have been reaching for it in my closet ever since.  This is great over dresses when out for dinner and works equally well over any casual outfit.  I like that it makes my outfit a bit more put-together every single time I throw on this jacket.  The muted olive-green color is also a plus because it brings a bit of color to my usually monochromatic looks and it also works across the color spectrum.

Let me know what your spring break essentials are down below!

Yours,

Vanessa

  1. Hi Vanessa,

Hope you enjoy your Spring vacation! It didn't even occur to me that Moonlight Catalyst can be used on its own - how many drops do you use in this case? I usually stick to 3-4 every night, but this is in conjunction with other serums and oil. Tarte Exposed is so pretty - sadly, it's too light for me. :(

Love those shades! And the silk shirt...lusting after that jacket too. LOL.

    Ruhi xx

    1. Ruhi!
I usually stick to about 4-6 drops when using it alone! I'm still trying to find an oil that agrees with my skin so once that happens, I'll be my own little serum chemist. I'm so sorry to hear exposed is too light! It really is a beautiful color! It's sad that the jacket is sold out but I really truly recommend getting an Equipment shirt! It is so versatile and comfortable!
      Big love, Vanessa

    1. Hey Ru!
I'm visiting Pennsylvania! It's so so much colder in the East Coast than in Sunny California and I feel so out of the norm when I say " it's so cold, I need heating" every 5 minutes. The locals here probably think I'm crazy weak!
