Weleda: Cultivating Beauty

Weleda is the kind of big name that inspires others in the green beauty industry.  They are industry leaders, and rightfully so!  Their mission is simple.  The goal for Weleda is to cultivate beauty.  They do it with Biodynamic farming methods and fair trade partnerships.  They do it by making meaningful products.  They do this by empowering individuals who come across the brand. It is in these means that they encourage individual health and authentic beauty.  I was always curious about this heavyweight in the green beauty world, and I am glad to say that I was given the opportunity (by Weleda themselves) to test out products from their Sensitive Skin line.   There's a bit of a surprise for you at the end of this review! Why not ring in the new year with some fun?

Weleda Sensitive Skin Cleansing Lotion (Almond)
Ingredients:
Water (Aqua)Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) OilGlyceryl Stearate SEAlcoholPrunus Domestica (Plum) Seed OilXanthan GumLactic Acid.

Experience:
This cleansing lotion is a mild, thin lotion that emulsifies well on the skin and washes off without leaving any residue.  I like to apply this with my hands onto dry skin, then add water to rinse off.  I find that this helps remove the last bit of makeup off my face (that part that may be missed by my first cleanse).  I did not find this to have drastically improved any problem areas on my skin such as my post-acne scars or redness around my cheeks.

Weleda Sensitive Skin Facial Lotion (Almond)
Ingredients:
Water (Aqua)Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) OilAlcoholGlyceryl Stearate SEGlycerinHydrolyzed BeeswaxPrunus Domestica (Plum) Seed OilXanthan GumLactic Acid.

Experience:
This facial lotion is quite light upon application.  This is the main reason why I enjoy using this over the facial cream within the same line.  Since I have oily-combination skin, I tend to gravitate towards lighter moisturizers.  That being said, I did find that this left a very slight residue on my skin after fully absorbing.  I'm sure it is barely noticeable, however, I'm someone who is very sensitive to any residue left behind by products. I love how inoffensively scented the products in this line are.  They all smell of a very faint almond scent.  I found that my face did feel a bit smoother after using this for a bit over a week.  I also love the simplicity of the ingredients for all of Weleda's products.

Weleda Sensitive Skin Facial Cream (Almond)
Ingredients:
Water (Aqua)Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) OilAlcoholGlyceryl Stearate SEHydrolyzed BeeswaxPrunus Domestica (Plum) Seed OilGlycerinXanthan GumLactic Acid.

Experience:
This facial cream was just slightly thicker in consistency than the facial lotion.  While it is a bit thicker, I found that this cream also absorbed quite well into the skin only leaving a small bit of residue behind.  I'm not sure if it is because of the Beeswax in the ingredients list.  However, I also found that this did leave my skin a bit softer although it did not help with any scarring( it did not claim to do so!).  The almond oil that has been in all of the products is great for keeping skin supple with its essential fatty acids.

Weleda Sensitive Skin Facial Oil (Almond)
Ingredients:
Prunus Amygdalus Dulcis (Sweet Almond) OilPrunus Domestica (Plum) Seed OilPrunus Spinosa (Blackthorn) Flower Extract.

Experience:
I used this oil only on the parts of my face where I'm not too slick.  This is a great oil for those just getting into facial oils as it is light enough to use without any concern over if it'll congest your pores. I will say, though,  that I felt this took a bit longer to absorb than the other products in the line.  I only use this product in the nighttime as I find it to be a bit too heavy for my AM routine.

Weleda One-step Cleanser Toner
Ingredients:
Water (Aqua)Fragrance (Parfum)*, Potassium OlivateIris Germanica Root ExtractHamamelis Virginiana (Witch Hazel) DistillateLanolinAlcoholLimonene*, Linalool*, Citral*.

Experience:
I really enjoyed using this cleanser toner since it was a great quick and easy second cleanse to fully prep my face for a clean start to my AM or PM skincare routine.  I use this just once in the AM without any other cleanse and rinse it off with warm water.  I find that this is super gentle and never irritates my skin.  In the PM, I used this as my last cleanser step before applying my skincare,  I found that this worked well with a few swipes with a cotton pad and a follow-up rinse.  As with all of the other products, this was very gentle on my skin!  I find that my skin gives off a bit of a brighter glow after using this product.

  1. I love this post! My dad works for a company that only use biodynamic ingredients (he's a chef) they sell Weleda in the cafe so for the last 17 years Weleda have very much been on my radar! I haven't come across anyone in my current Instagram or blogging world who has talked about it reviewed them though. I love the sound of a brighter glow from the toner
