Honest Beauty Reformulated Truly Lush Mascara & Spotlight + Strobe Kit

To be completely honest (pun intended), I've been thinking about unsubscribing to the Honest Beauty Bundles as of late. I've been getting so much makeup that I didn't see the need for the Bundle anymore even if it was a great deal. Then, Honest Beauty decided to completely unravel my resolve and release new products, holiday products, as well as haircare! I've got the low down on their Haircare Line coming very soon, but for today, I'd like to rave about their newly reformulated Truly Lush Mascara and their Spotlight + Strobe Kit!

Experience:
This mascara is unique in that it has a primer and a mascara all in one! I usually don't use primer with my mascara, but this has turned me into a convert! I'm very particular about mascara as full lashes is one of the most important factors in my day to day makeup look. This mascara really delivers in both length and volume. This has given me the longest lashes I've ever had since trying natural, cleaner mascara! I believe that the primer is to thank for that. I've also worn this out for 10+ hour days and I have not experienced any large amount of smudging. This is great since I usually have at least the outer half length of my bottom lashes smudged by the end of the day!
I would like to point out the best way that I've found to apply this mascara. I used to apply the primer first and then go back with the mascara, but I've found that that creates a very stiff, spidery look since the primer had already dried. Nowadays, I apply the mascara right after applying primer and it creates a much cleaner look. I will say that this may not be for those who don't like spidery lashes as, while it is cleaner to apply it the latter way, this mascara still tends to give my lashes a bit of a spidery look. I don't personally mind as I actually prefer that look.

Experience:
I actually didn't expect to like this palette. I currently own so many highlighters (my favorite makeup items are lipstick, mascara, and highlighter) and I didn't think that this would add anything special to the connection. I was incredibly wrong. This kit comes in two different formulations and three different highlighter shades. I like to use these three shades for different purposes and I find that this kit acts as a great multitasker. As you can see in the swatches below, there is a white cream highlight, a pink cream highlight, and a shimmery gold powder highlight. I love to use the white highlight for the bridge of my nose and my cupid's bow. I actually apply the pink highlight all over my cheeks as a cream blush and it pairs well with my fair-light skin. This gives me a very youthful glow and it doesn't make my cheeks turn into disco balls at all! I love to use the powder gold highlight on my cheekbones to highlight them and give them a nice warm flush! The cream formulations stay on all day and don't transform into greasy messes. They are also incredibly lightweight on the skin! The same goes for the powder formulation and I couldn't be more impressed! You've done well, Honest Beauty!

Is there a difference in the reformulated mascara compared to the previous one? Is it better on not smudging? I tried the previous formulation and I didn't like how it smudged badly :/ so I'm wondering if the reformulation is worth a try :3
ReplyDeleteHey lady! So sorry my response comes a bit late but I've personally had no issues with smudging! I've worn this mascara for 10 hour days before and I've had no issues throughout the whole day smudge-wise!
DeleteDo you have any issues with "flashback"--when you take a picture using a camera with flash, the parts of the face that is highlighted appearing very white---with Honest Beauty highlighting products?
