Tested: Juice Beauty Blemish Clearing Powder

I've had a sudden increase in the number of "face friends" within the past two weeks that I can only logically attribute to a change in my diet(whether it be eating out more often or anther cause).  It seemed like perfect timing to bust out a review on this Juice Beauty Blemish Clearing Powder that I've had for a few months.  I originally bought this as a setting powder of sorts but have since reduced the use of this to just spot-treating on the areas with spots.  This powder is good enough for me to attempt to ration for its functionality, ease-of-use, and the great results it has given me.  This is a master-multi-tasker that has been saving my skin for the past two weeks.

Consistency:  This is an extremely finely milled powder with a pale/fair tone.  Not to worry, though, because it blends out into a translucent, matte finish.  This powder offers no coverage but is excellent at mattifying and reducing the appearance of pores.  I find that it gives the skin a smooth, silky finish after application.  It is easy to apply with a small brush(I use the Ecotools Concealer Brush) and blends into translucency easily.   It also double-tasks as skincare within a makeup product as the bamboo in the ingredients is antiseptic.  It can aid in the fight against free radicals with superstar ingredients such as Acai, Goji, Blueberry, Pomegranate, and Cranberry Extracts.

Here are the ingredients for your consideration:

Ingredients: Organic powders of manihot esculenta (organic tapioca)*, zea mays (organic corn)*, aloe barbadensis (organic aloe powder)*, bambusa arundinaceae (bamboo powder), vitis vinifera (organic grape seed oil)*, vaccinium corymbosum (organic blueberry seed oil)*, punica granatum (organic pomegranate seed oil)*, rubus idaeus (organic raspberry seed oil)*, actinidia chinensis (organic kiwi seed oil)*, vaccinium macrocarpon (organic cranberry seed oil)*, fragaria ananassa (organic strawberry seed oil)*, euterpe oleracea (organic acai berry)*, lycium chinense (organic goji berry)*, tocopherol (Vitamin E), ricinus communis (organic castor seed oil)*, thymus vulgaris (thyme extract), melaleuca alternifolia (tea tree extract), rosmarinus officinalis (rosemary extract) and citrus sinensis (sweet orange oil). May contain titanium dioxide, mica, iron oxides.

Experience: I initially ordered this powder as a setting powder, however, I've since realized that this works better as a powder spot-treatment.  The amount of product you get is only 3g which is quite small in comparison to the usual amount given for powders(10g).  I have used this on and off for the past few months and have found that it works well to minimize the appearance of pores and large spots.  When I break out, the most troublesome spots are the ones that cover a lot of space with a red ring around it due to the inflammation underneath.  These appear like giant, angry 3D saucers even when I apply my cream concealer on top to eliminate the redness.  My usual routine with the Blemish Clearing powder is to apply a thin coat of liquid/cream concealer on top of the blemish and then mattify and smooth out the appearance of the blemish with the powder.  This not only decreases the size of the blemish(appearance-wise) dramatically, but it also helps to treat the blemish.  On the days that I've used this powder, my blemishes all shrink by a noticeable portion of their original size by the end of my 8 hour wear.  Now, one can say that it might be because the blemishes were deoxygenated from the makeup covering them so they may have shrunk but I do think that the powder has helped in reducing the size even without that effect.  I've also tried applying the powder without any makeup underneath on my "no-makeup" days and have experienced the same results with the shrinkage of my spots.

Have you tried anything like the Blemish Clearing Powder?  I'm curious because my very first foray into this type of product has been so successful!

Happy Hump Day!

  1. I haven't used a powder spot treatment before but it sounds like a neat idea. Lots of great ingredients in there!

    1. Thanks for the comment, Caitie!

This is the first of its kind that I've tried and it's amazing, not to mention convenient. I used to use spot treatments that would make my face look like to had pink or green dots all over, this is definitely a lot less scare-prone for whoever you live with! The ingredients are great and it definitely improves the size and appearance of my spots!
