Collectively Curated Honest Beauty Review Part 2: Oily Trial Kit, Everything Primer, Magic Balm, Even Brighter Everyday Moisturizer, Younger Face Deep Hydration Cream

Today, I'm bringing you the long-awaited part 2 to my Honest Beauty Collectively Curated Series! I'll be focusing on skincare and how I've gotten along with many of their products that are targeted towards blemish prone, oily skin.  These reviews are the cumulation of 1-2 months of testing (save for the Magic Balm and the Younger Face Moisturizer) and I truly believe I've gotten a good grasp of how well these products have worked for my skin.  There've been some hits, there've been some misses, and I'll be documenting all of my experiences below!

Honest Trial Kit: Oily

Refreshingly Clean Gel Cleanser

Consistency:  This is a clear gel cleanser that is extremely light on the skin.  This has an herbal scent that may not be for everyone but it does not linger.  Once rubbed onto the skin, this foams very well and washes off clean.

Ingredients:
Water (Aqua, Eau), Sodium Laurylglucosides Hydroxypropylsulfonate, Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate, Cocamidopropyl Hydroxysultaine, Glycerin, Sorbitol, Sodium Lauryl Glucose Carboxylate, Calendula Officinalis (Marigold) Flower Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Hydrolyzed Quinoa, Saponaria Officinalis Extract, Yucca Schidigera Extract, Lavandula Hybrida (Lavandin) Oil, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Abies Sibirica (Fir Needle) Oil, Cymbopogon Martini (Palma Rosa) Oil, Pelargonium Graevolens (Geranium) Oil, Pogostemon Cablin (Patchouli) Oil, Anthemis Nobilis (Chamomile) Flower Oil, Lauryl Glucoside, Gluconolactone, Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate

Experience:  This was an alright product for me.  The gel cleanser is a very basic cleanser meant for those with no major skin issues.  I liked the no-fuss approach of the cleanser and found that it was a great travel cleanser.  This requires no muslin cloth or konjac sponge to thoroughly cleanse my face.  I did, however, find that my face was a bit dry after each wash(take note that I had dry, flaky cheeks in this cold weather that we are having).  I did not notice any discernible improvement in my skin purely from the face wash and I do not plan on repurchasing it in the full size.

Dependably Clear Oil Free Moisturizer

Consistency: This was by far my favorite product in the trial kit.  I have oily, acne-prone skin and this product had one of the best moisturizer consistencies I've ever tried.  It is a light, white cream moisturizer that is incredibly hydrating without being thick.  This also had the same herbal scent as the cleanser. I love that this includes Neem in the ingredients because Neem is especially helpful for those suffering from acne.  I am not, however, a huge fan of how Dimethicone is listed as one of the top ingredients.

Ingredients:
Water (Aqua, Eau), Glycerin, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Isoamyl Laurate, Dimethicone, Glyceryl Stearate Citrate, Pelargonium Graveolens Flower/Leaf/Stem Extract, Squalane, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cetyl Alcohol, Calendula Officinalis (Marigold) Flower Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Populus Tremuloides (Aspen) Bark Extract, Melia Azadirachta (Neem) Leaf Extract, Opuntia Ficus-Indica (Barbary Fig) Extract, Rosa Canina (Rosehip) Fruit Extract, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Sodium Phytate, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Sclerotium Gum, Glyceryl Caprylate, Gluconolactone, Sodium Benzoate, Sodium Hydroxide

Experience: I found that I actively reached for this product each morning until I ran out of the product.  This is currently in my next bundle that will be shipped in December as I've just run out of the trial size.  I find that I was able to use the trial size for a while since I only needed a pea-sized amount to cover my entire face.  I loved how this product felt so light and hydrating on my skin while setting quickly into a satin-like finish.  This would be the perfect product if it had some sort of spf in the formulation such as spf 20 or spf 30.

Beyond Protected Daily Beauty Fluid Oil Free SPF 30

Consistency:  This was my least favorite of all of the trial products due to its consistency.  This is a thick, oily grey-white colored cream spf that is packaged in a squeeze container.  First of all, the spf beauty fluid is not a fluid at all but a heavy cream.  It is easy to blend, however, it leaves a thick, oily layer on the top of the skin.  There was no white-cast with this product.  This also had the same herbal scent that is found in the other two trial products.

Ingredients:
Active Ingredient: Zinc Oxide 19.7%
Inactive Ingredients: Water (Aqua, Eau), Isoamyl Laurate, Mica, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Coconut Alkanes, Polyglyceryl-3 Polyricinoleate, Glycerin, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Water, Polyglyceryl-6 Polyricinoleate, Lecithin, Glyceryl Caprylate, Dextrin Palmitate, Polyglyceryl-2 Diisostearate, Sodium Chloride, Calendula Officinalis (Marigold) Flower Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Populus Tremuloides (Aspen) Bark Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Sodium Hyaluronate, Bisabolol, Panthenol, Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Extract, Coco-Caprylate/Caprate, Sorbitan Sesquioleate, Squalane, Isostearic Acid, Polyhydroxystearic Acid, Stearoyl Glutamic Acid, Leuconostoc/Radish Root Ferment Filtrate

Experience: I did not enjoy this product at all and found it hard to even squeeze out of the trial size tube.  The only saving factor that I found for this product was that this had an amazing spf of 30.  Otherwise, this is just a sub-standard sunscreen product that made my skin feel uncomfortable with how heavy and oily it set after rubbing it in.  I also found that wearing any makeup on top of this sunscreen was near impossible since this made the makeup slide around more than it would without the sunscreen underneath.  This did not break me out, however, I will not be purchasing the full size of this product due to the unpleasant feeling it gives my skin.

L-R: Honest Beauty Dependably Clear Oil-free Moisturizer, Beyond Protected Daily Beauty Fluid Oil Free SPF 30, Refreshingly Clean Gel Cleanser

Even Brighter Everyday Moisturizer

Consistency: This moisturizer is just a tad bit heavier than the Dependably Clear Oil-free Moisturizer.  It dispenses as a light, white cream that blends easily into the skin and also has an herbal scent.  This sets to a comfortable satin finish on the skin.

Ingredients:
Aqua (Water, Eau), Glycerin, Raphanus Sativus (Radish) Seed Oil, Dimethicone, Glyceryl Stearate SE, Camellia Sinensis Seed Oil, Jojoba Esters, Cetearyl Alcohol, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Calendula Officinalis (Marigold) Flower Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Malpighia Glabra (Acerola) Fruit Extract, Opuntia Ficus-Indica (Barbary Fig) Extract, Anthemis Nobilis (Chamomile) Flower Oil, Rosa Canina (Rosehip) Fruit Extract, Lavandula Hybrida (Lavandin) Oil, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Pelargonium Graveolens (Geranium) Flower Oil, Phyllanthus Emblica Fruit Extract, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Sodium Phytate, Cetyl Alcohol, Pogostemon Cablin (Patchouli) Oil, Ethylhexylglycerin, Cymbopogon Martini (Palma Rosa) Oil, Cetearyl Glucoside, Abies Sibirica (Fir Needle) Oil, Xanthan Gum, Gluconolactone, Maltodextrin, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate

Experience:  While I enjoy this moisturizer as an everyday AM moisturizer, I find that this did not live up to its "even brighter" claims with my month and a half months of use.  I have many acne scars mostly on the right and left sides of my face that I took notice of during the time that I used this product and none of my scars were lighter after a month and a half of use.  Interestingly, my face stung after each application for a minute or two during the first 3 weeks of application.  Currently, this product does not give me that reaction anymore and I can comfortably apply it as a daily moisturizer.  I figured that this may be due to the fact that I was in the East Coast during the time when I first tested this product and my skin was a bit drier(thus there may have been minute cracks that caused the stinging).  Either way,  this reaction has stopped.  I've been using this as my AM moisturizer( as previously noted), but I do not plan on repurchasing as I much prefer using the Dependably Clear Oil-Free Moisturizer.

Younger Face Deep Hydration Cream

Consistency:  This is a deeply hydrating cream moisturizer that is much thicker in consistency than the Even Brighter Everyday Moisturizer.  This is not as easy to blend out as the other moisturizers due to its thick consistency.  This has a strong herbal scent.

Ingredients:
Aqua (Water, Eau), Ethylhexyl Stearate, Glycerin, Raphanus Sativus (Radish) Seed Oil, Jojoba Esters, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Sorbitol, Dimethicone, Glyceryl Stearate SE, Cetyl Alcohol, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Beeswax (Cera Alba, Cire d'Abeille), Candelilla/Jojoba/Rice Bran Polyglyceryl-3 Esters, Glyceryl Stearate, Lecithin, Calendula Officinalis (Marigold) Flower Extract, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Adansonia Digitata (Baobab) Seed Oil, Alaria Esculenta (Brown Algae) Extract, Malpighia Glabra (Acerola) Fruit Extract, Opuntia Ficus-Indica (Barbary Fig) Extract, Lavandula Hybrida (Lavandin) Oil, Fagus Sylvatica (Beech) Bud Extract, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Sodium Phytate, Lavandula Angustifolia (Lavender) Oil, Pelargonium Graveolens (Geranium) Oil, Pogostemon Cablin (Patchouli) Oil, Anthemis Nobilis (Chamomile) Flower Oil, Abies Sibirica (Fir Needle) Oil, Cetearyl Alcohol, Cymbopogon Martini (Palma Rosa) Oil, Xanthan Gum, Glucose, Glucose Oxidase, Lactoperoxidase, Maltodextrin, Sodium Stearoyl Lactylate, Potassium Sorbate, Citric Acid

Experience:  I'd like to start off by saying that this purchase was meant for my mother.  I have used this a few times (no more than a week) to just test out the product but have since given it to her.  She is still using this nightly, by the way, and she has extremely sensitive skin so that is a good sign!  I found that this cream was much too rich for my skin.  This cream was too heavy for my preference though I do find that it is more comfortable once it has set/dried after a few minutes.  Since I do not have any prominent wrinkles or fine lines at the moment, I cannot attest to its claims.  However, I have included a swatch of it below so that you may have a better idea of the consistency.

Everything Primer

Consistency: This is a light, serum-like primer that comfortably glides on the face and dries quickly.  This is nothing like the silicone primers out there with their pore-clogging, slippery texture.  I find that this primer glides extremely easily across the face and the slight golden shimmer color helps to slightly even out the skin tone.  I definitely see why water is at the forefront of the ingredients list as it is an extremely light primer that has the consistency of a gel/serum.  This product does contain phenoxyethanol at the end of the ingredients list.

Ingredients:
Water (Aqua, Eau), Cetearyl Olivate, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Coco-Caprylate, Glycerin, Pyrus Malus (Apple) Fruit Extract, Sorbitan Olivate, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter, Arginine, Capryloyl Glycerin/Sebacic Acid Copolymer, Cocoglycerides, Glyceryl Stearate, Tribenenin, Hydrolyzed Hyaluronic Acid, Scierotium Gum, Paeonia Albiflora Root Extract, Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Juice, Palmitoyl Hexapeptide-19, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Extract, Citrus Aurantium Amara (Bitter Orange) Flower Water Extract, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Tocopherol, Dimethicone, Lauroyl Lysine, Capryloyl Glycine, Undecylenoyl Glycine, Xanthan Gum, Potassium Sorbate, Phenoxyethanol, Ethylhexylglycerin, Citric Acid, Mica (CI 77019), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77491)

Experience: I can definitely see why this was voted as an Allure Best of Beauty product.  This is one of my favorite, stand-out Honest products to date.  Previous to this, I had been using another primer that had more of a silicone slip to it (without the silicones) and this has trumped the other primer due to its lighter consistency and more gel-like texture.  I find that this is just an overall pleasure to wear and I always gravitate towards this every morning(especially when I am having a long day).  This does help keep my makeup from slipping around and I find that it also helps eliminate some of the shine that accumulates after a long day of wear.  I have included a picture comparing two sides of my face, one with the primer and one without, after a 9 hour day of wear.

L-R: Honest Beauty Even Brighter Everyday Moisturizer, Younger Face Deep Hydration Cream, Everything Primer

L-R: W/Honest Beauty Everything Primer, W/out Everything Primer (9 hours)

Consistency: This is a light balm with a mix of botanical oils.  In the clear packaging, it is a solid balm.  Once I swiped my finger across the balm, it immediately emulsified to a light oil on my fingertips.  This is easy to spread and dries quite nicely to a moisturizing but not heavy sensation on the skin.  The packaging of this product is gorgeous, however, this squeaks quite loudly upon opening and closing since it is a plastic packaging.

Ingredients:
Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil*, Olea Europaea (Olive) Fruit Oil*, Cera Alba (Beeswax, Cire d'Abeille)*, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Oil*, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea) Butter*, Argania Spinosa Kernel Oil*, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil*, Tocopherol, Anthemis Nobilis Flower Oil*, Calendula Officinalis Flower Extract, Calophyllum Inophyllum Seed Oil*, Rosa Canina Fruit Oil*, Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil, Kaolin, CI 77491 (Iron Oxide). *Organic Ingredient

Experience:  I've used this balm mainly as a means of extra hydration for my dry cheeks during this seasonal shift.  I tend to get a rough, dry patch on my right cheek as of late so I've mostly been applying this balm underneath other creams to gift that area of my skin more TLC.  I do find that this balm is helpful for that delicate dry patch, however, I've found that my Kypris Beauty Elixir III and the 5yina Lucent oil have both worked much better wonders on that dry patch than this balm has ever done.  I do enjoy the clean and simple ingredients, however.  I have since used this as a lip balm which I did not enjoy as this was a bit too dry for my lips.  I've also used this as a means to moisturize my knuckles as they tend to dry out and crack in the winter months.  This was great for that purpose.  Lastly, I've used this as a highlight for my face a la Jessica Alba and have found that this also gives that nice, wet sheen that the RMS Living Luminizer gives (albeit it is not as much of an inner goddess glow as it is a sheeny appearance).
